SURPRISE COLOURS

I have recently mastered the art of using a blending tool with reasonable success. Not an expert yet but love the effects that can be achieved. Trouble is I keep wanting to use it on all my cards. Anyway this card has been created for the challenge at Lavinia stamps  which is Any Colours You Like.

I had a tag which already had a a pale shaving foam background so I have used that and blended Worn Lipstick and Chipped Sapphire Distress Inks around the edges. Of course these two colours made a beautiful purple shade.

I used the Floral Spray stamp , using versamark ink and embossing with gold powder. I used the gold powder around the edges as well. Mounted onto black card and added a gold bow. I made a background piece along similar lines and added the tag to it. All that remained then was to mount the whole piece onto a cream card.

This was one of those cards that just seem to take shape as I was creating it. I did not really know where it was leading when I started. I am pleased with it though and think I might try a few more.

Thankyou for taking time to visit my blog and if you have time pay a visit to the Lavinia Stamps website. They have some beautiful products.

DISTRESSED

The title of this post does not mean I am distressed but is the theme for the challenge at Fussy and Fancy. I never used to like this sort of look on cards or anything really but I have gradually had a change of heart. There are some beautiful designs on this theme in the shops. So I really felt I had to enter this challenge.

I have a few vintage style papers and I searched through all my stash for other items. Gosh isn't it amazing the amount that we manage to collect. I do not have much storage space but still manage to cram a bit more in. Must be done.

I started with a strip of vintage paper and distressed the edges. I also blended some ink onto the edge.

Using a newsprint stamp I added some print over the background paper. I added some lace to the edges of the floral strip of paper then layered it on top of the background paper.

It was a question then of adding lots of lovely embellishments.   A lot of very pretty Sweet Lilac flowers in the corner and a little charm.

I found this little wooden LOVE. some gilding wax distressed it beautifully. Only recently discovered gilding wax and I love the effect it gives.

Some buttons with ribbon tied through.

I found a pretty lace heart, think I must have had these for ages.

A die cut swirl in contrasting paper.

The completed card, really enjoyed making this one. Think I will have to make a box for it though, it is never going to fit in an envelope.

Thankyou for visiting and please leave a comment if you have time. x

OWLS

I have recently bought these lovely owl stamps and I thought they were ideal for a card for a man or boy. The challenge at Claritystamps this month is Boys Boys Boys so they are perfect for my entry.
I had several ideas but decided to keep it reasonably straightforward. The stamps have a lot of detail in them.

Using a piece of the Theuva card I stamped the large owl to the side and the trio of owls in a diamond shape to the left.

I put some more diamonds under the large one and shaded them in Espresso Adirondack ink. I masked off the larger shape with post it notes so that I could create a small background inside.  I also masked off the owls with the mask provided with the stamp set, saves so much cutting out.

I used a stamp from the journal set for the branches and Espresso ink again.  Colours do not show very well in the photo really.

The larger owl was stamped several times on a separate sheet of paper and also heat embossed. This meant I could use some pro-markers to colour in and also I cut out layers and decoupaged him.

The small areas were filled in with a black fine liner pen carrying on the pattern in the stamp.

Just needed to mount the finished artwork onto a brown background and a card base. I also used the Alphabet set to add the word Son. It was not my intention to make this card for my son but he visited whilst I was creating it, looked at it and said " I 'll have that for my Birthday", he loves birds of prey so very appropriate really.

GROOVI

I have recently bought the new Groovi Plate system from Claritystamps. If you have not already seen this lovely set it enables you to achieve a parchment effect without all the extra work that goes with parchment craft. Obviously there are those among you who are experts at this amazing craft and would not want anything else but some of us find it quite a difficult art to master. I have tried in the past with varying results and there are no classes locally.
This system has a groove in the plates which just has to followed with your embossing tools. For more information please go to Barbara Gray's blog  ONE DAY AT A TIME. She has some You Tube videos and will explain it far better than me.
Anyway I just thought I would share some pictures of my first creation with you.

This is the completed card and below I have shown a few close ups of the detail.

The butterfly was embossed twice and the second one cut out and decoupaged. I added a few pearls for embellishment.

Just a few of the flowers included in the pretty wreath.

I backed the completed design onto some rainbow coloured paper.

I have a lot to learn to be able to produce a perfect piece but not too bad to start with.  Hopefully I will soon have some more designs to share with you.
           Thankyou for visiting.
