CLARITY CHALLENGE----- SEASONS

I am quite late this month thinking about the Challenge at Clarity which is SEASONS.  I spent some time trying to decide which season to choose or whether to just do a card with all of them on.  Anyway I decided on SUMMER in the end. I had bought the Beachside stamp set earlier this year so chose to make use of it, I had also got a boat stamp which I have used.

Completed card

The base of the card is a triple stepper and on each step is a different view of the seaside. To start I trimmed a sheet of A4 card to 7" wide and made 4 folds along the bottom, each 1"apart for the steps.  Score the card in the middle widthways and fold in half to make it stand.
Base card

I cut three pieces of card to create the seaside views. These had to be different sizes to keep the tiered effect.   Then I stamped  the pictures and heat embossed them so that I could use Pro-Markers to colour in.  Shade in some sky and sea for the boats and sand for the deckchair. It has been very cold today so I wish I was sitting in that deckchair in the warm sun.

Using double sided tape the pictures were

stuck to the base card. I had some small beads which look like shells and fish so I added a few of them to complete the Summer scene.

So I am entering this card into the Clarity challenge for October. All the stamps I have used are available on the Clarity website.

MAGPIES

Hello, have not blogged for a little while, where does the time go. Anyway I thought I would share the card I have made for my husband's Birthday with you. He loves Magpies and we have plenty of them about where we live. They can be a bit noisy some days sitting on the roof tops calling to one another. Somebody told my husband once that if you saw a lone Magpie you should always say Good day to it, so he does. I think it is because they have the same partner for life.

Blended alcohol inks
I started by stamping onto some double sided adhesive, using a stamp from Clarity. Thought it was appropriate for my Magpie loving husband. I only needed to add the little bits of white. Then I carefully covered the image with some acetate, do this slowly so you do not get any air bubbles. Next I added some Alcohol Inks to some shiny Clarity card, blue at top and green at bottom. Mixing in a few brighter pink patches. Looks a bit messy at first but end result is ok.

I removed backing paper from stamped image and laid onto the top of the inked card. This gave a colourful background to the Magpies. Trim picture back and mount onto dark blue paper then onto white card. Take an 8x8 card and cut front in half  add some blue background then stick the picture on the edge. I covered the inside with more dark blue paper. To finish off I die cut a couple of swirls and stuck in each of the front corners with a button to finish.

I hope you like this and try using Alcohol inks, this was a first for me and I quite like the result. Will certainly try it again.

AUTUMN LEAVES

Hello, I hope this finds you all well. We are enjoying typical Autumn weather at the moment, this morning was very misty. Still we have been very fortunate up till now but the leaves are changing and the days are getting shorter. My blog today is about Autumn, the challenge at Sweet Lilac Flowers  is  Autumn Colours .  This is my entry.

Autumn colours

I started by using the Gerbera stamp from Clarity and forming it into a wreath shape by stamping and masking several times. I used a Distress Ink called Fired Brick and Adirondack Butterscotch. Once stamped I used a very slightly damp paint brush and dragged some of the ink into the petals to colour them. Using  a very light Pro-Marker with a fine nib I went round the edge of the flowers. This makes them stand out a little.
I stamped and embossed two butterflies onto some coloured velum, then cut out. I used a bronze embossing powder which helped to keep the Autumn theme. These were added to the centre of the wreath. I brushed lightly over the white background card with the inks I used to stamp the flowers with, just to take away some of the whiteness.
The completed picture was double mounted onto some card of similar colours, then added to an 8x8 card base.
Having done this I could add some of the lovely Sweet Lilac flowers and also a few of their beautiful Maple Leaves. They were just the right colour for this project  A double bow and matching card candi completed the picture.
I am entering this card in this months challenge at Sweet Lilac. I hope you are inspired to make your own Autumnal coloured card. Thankyou for visiting.

ELEGANT IN RED

I thought I would enter a card into the challenge at  Fussy and Fancy. There is a new challenge every fortnight and I have considered entering several times but somehow never quite round to doing so. Anyway the challenge at the moment is  Main Theme Red. It is always hard trying to decide which image to use on anything I make but I eventually settled on this one by Debbi Moore designs.

The basic card is quite simple, I just folded the front of a card blank in half outwards and then matted and layered patterned papers to match with the image. Some bright flowers and feathers finished it off nicely.  Thankyou for visiting and I hope you like my card.
